Cancer Aid and Research Foundation, a registered Medical NGO recently Organized FREE MEDICAL CAMP for common & needy people.
Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF) started in the year 2001. Since its inception 12 years ago, it has made significant contribution to our country's progress in its fight against cancer. CARF caters to poor cancer patients through financial aid, cancer research, advocacy, education and services have made remarkable strides in cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and extending their quality of life. We provide medical & financial aid to the poor & needy cancer patients who approach us from various hospitals all over India without distinction of caste & creed.
Recently CARF organized a Free Medical Camp on World Cancer Day on, 4th February 2014 from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm for the common & needy people in association with Dr. Asra I Kazi, at Mazgaon, Mumbai- 400 010. In this camp CARF provided FreeCheck-up, Free Medicine and free Pathology Tests and also distributed Cancer Awareness Literature. In this camp almost 97 visitors visited and out of these 71 underwent their path tests. CARF ambulance was used to perform all path tests.
Publicity of this program was made by way of pamphlets, banners, news paper, cable operator, etc.

The medical camp was a great success. We hope to organize more such camps to bring a smile on the faces of people and increase awareness to undergo early detection.

and Research Foundation a registered Medical NGO recently took 20 Patients and
their parents for the Free Screening of Animation Movie “ Mahabharata” at Dr. B
Nanavati Hospital Auditorium, Vile Parle, Mumbai.
All the Kids, parents and staff reached the auditorium in the
morning. All were given snacks like biscuits and also popcorns, wafers,
chocolates and frooti. A lad dressed as Krishna welcomed the group and also
played and danced with them. There were students from other Ngo’s as well. They
all danced and enjoyed together. The movie was two hours long. After that they
had lunch (Chinese). The program ended with distribution of gifts to all the
kids.

Ethos 2014 extends support to CARF’s awareness building campaign
ethos, the Annual Management Conclave and Cultural Utsaav was organised by students of H.K. Institute of Management Studies & Research (HKIMSR), Oshiwara, Mumbai on Jan 30 | Jan 31 | Feb 01, 2014 at H.K. Campus in Jogeshwari (W), adjacent to Andheri (W)
Lokhandwala. The event which was incepted in 2009 has been attracting enthusiastic participation of students from all over Mumbai and peripherals. More than 5000 students each year compete in various games and cultural presentations over a period of three days fiesta supported by several corporate organizations. The fifth edition, ethos 2014, witnessed a congregation of close to 7000 students and support from 52 corporate sponsors.
Each year students of HKIMSR under the guidance of their mentor Prof. Tamojit Ghosh Roy support a social cause during ethos. This year students decided to extend support to CARF’s awareness building campaign during ethos 2014. CARF – Cancer Aid & Research Foundation is an NGO dedicated to support the ailing cancer patients, irrespective of their age, caste, creed and colour. The evening was dedicated to the presentations by CARF beneficiaries. Young children, who are in the recovery phase from this dreaded disease, made heart-warming dances on Bollywood numbers. A ramp-walking was choreographed for the children supported by CARF and beautifully anchored by Mr. UMAIR KHAN andMs. BHARTI MASIWAL. The little children were enthralled to walk on the ramp with professional choreographer and the students of HKIMSR. This social event was supported by Indian Oil Corporation and felicitation of these young children was done by two senior officials from IOC, Mr. Dilip Hari, DGM –HR, and Ms. Sabitha Natraj, Sr. Communications Manager.
The fifth edition included Run for a Cause on Feb 01, 2014 – a 3 km run dedicated to supporting the noble cause of CARF. The student volunteers donned CARF gears through the running track. Supported by Hyper CITY, Spykar and over 50 other leading corporations in Mumbai city, the Run for a Cause was flagged-off by Honorable Shri Aslam Shaikh, MLA and Councillor on Feb 01, 2014 (7.00 am) from Hyper CITY Malad concluding at H K Campus.The event witnessed the presence of celebrities and dignitaries like Feroze Khan, the famous choreographer and his dancing prodigy Vicki Das from Dance India Dance (dance show on Zee TV); Samantha Fernandes and Nilesh Macedona from Dil, Dosti, Dance (youth show on Channel V); celebrity actor and Big Boss fame, Ajaz Khan; Chandni and Nishad Vaidya, the popular cine-couple from Amita Ka Amit. Dr. NIDA KHAN (PSD-Manager), SHAMSHUL HASAN (PPD-Manager), & FIRDOUS ANJUM (Officer PSD), from CARF were present for overall coordination. Hopefully, the three day extravaganza at ethos 2014 added strokes of colors to the life of children supported by Cancer Aid & Research Foundation.

Joy ride on Open Deck Bus with young Cancer patients

Cancer Aid and Research Foundation, a registered Medical NGO recently organized an OPEN DECK BUS RIDE for young Cancer patients with our well wisher Ms. SARITA SHETTY on the occasion of her birthday.
The objective of this event was to add some light moment of happiness in these cancer patients (children) lives. It was a great event in an awesome evening atmosphere. Since morning a very strong positive energy was felt by every single person, (staff, children, birthday girl and her friends). Everyone was happy and excited about this ride with the cancer patients. Ms. SARITA SHETTY’S birthdayCelebration with young cancer patients started at 3:00 pm in a perfect way with delicious meal. The journey started from JIJAMATA UDYAAN at BYCULLA followed by CST-MUSEUM-CHURCHGATE-NARIMAN POINT- GIRGAUM CHOWPATTY- HAJI ALI- TARDEO- WORLI- BANDRA SEALINK- MAHIM- DADAR- BYCULLA. Party started with cake cutting followed by meal, fun games for children and ended with cake, biscuit packets, wafers, water, juice and gift distribution by Ms. SARITA SHETTY. The kids enjoyed the sight-seeing specially the main points like HAJI ALI, MUSEUM, and WORLI SEALINK.

CSMVS: A Museum visit with cancer afflicted kids
Cancer Aid and Research Foundation a registered Medical NGO recently
organized a museum visit with a guide tour of the Painting exhibition for young
Cancer patients at the CSMVS (
Prince of Wales) Museum, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai.
It was a 2 hour event. The first
hour involved a tour of the exhibition with a guide explaining to the kids and
their parents about the significance and history of art. The kids enjoyed
looking at all the old coins and interesting things from history. This was
followed by a fun and creative activity for the kids. The kids were made to do
craft and drawing activities. They made Photo frames and painted pictures. They
were given gifts and juice by the organizers. The CARF team gave snacks like
biscuit packets, wafers & water.

“UMEED” CULTURAL PROGRAMME
Cancer Aid & Research Foundation (CARF) in association with NSS
(National Social Scheme, University of Mumbai) Units of Jai Hind College and
K.C. College, Churchgate, and supported by Indian Oil Corporation Limited,
Western Region, Mumbai organized a cultural event ”UMEED” on January 6th
2014 from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M at Jai Hind College Auditorium.
Prof A.A. Kazi (Chairman Emeritus), Mrs Rashida Kazi (Secretary
General), Dr Ashok Wadia (Principal, Jai Hind College), Dr Satish Kolte (NSS
District Coordinator, Mumbai City Zone, K.C. College), Dr Sajith Chandranan (Program
Officer, Jai Hind College) were present on the dais. Dr B.S. Bidwe (NSS
Coordinator, Mumbai University) was later felicitated. Program started with
Lamp lighting by our Chief Guest, Dr Ashok Wadia, Principal, Jai Hind College
and Mrs Rashida Kazi, Secretary General, CARF. Mrs. Rashida Kazi delivered
introductory speech about CARF and its activities. Mr Shamshi Mulla (Chief Operation Officer), Mrs
Savita Nathani (Gen. Manager) and Mrs. Tabassum Khan (Dy. Gen. Manager) with
other dignitaries were also present.
As the name “UMEED” suggest, it was youth initiative to create cancer
awareness and give hope to cancer patients and survivors in a joyful way. Some
of the performances were performed by cancer patients & survivors and rest
by NSS students of Jai Hind & K.C. College. All the songs, dances and
plays were intended to motivate cancer
patients & survivors to strengthen their will power to fight this deadly
disease, CANCER.
Highlight of the show, was to see cancer patients/survivors (Master
Salman, Mr. M.D.Ali and Baby Mansi More) performance and they all were cheered
& supported by all audience including patients and their families.
Event concluded with Vote of Thanks, National Anthem and snacks to the
audience, participants & guests. The sole purpose of the event was to give
some happy moments in the life of Cancer patients & survivors in a joyful
way and to create cancer awareness among mass, which was fully achieved.

Research Foundation a registered Medical NGO recently organized a Christmas
& New Year Party for young Cancer patients.
It was a full
day event. Young cancer patients enjoyed Christmas & New Year party with
CARF staff. So many fun games was there, which children’s thoroughly enjoyed
with Santa Claus & anchor SHAMSHUL
HASAN. Even they have given their best dance Performance. Celebration
started at 12:00 pm an awesome way with delicious lunch. So many verities in
dishes was there with green & healthy salad followed by dessert. Party
started with lunch followed by secretary general speech, Santa Claus entry with gift n chocolate, so
many fun games, dance & music, poem singing, and ended with cake n gift
distribution by Prin.

Parna Chatterjee one of our regular donor. At the end of party children’s were
given gifts, chocolate, cake, soft drink, even the staff have enjoyed the day.
